Eileen Wang, elected mayor of Arcadia, California, has agreed to plead guilty to acting as an illegal agent of the People’s Republic of China — operating a CCP propaganda website while holding American public office and hiding it from every voter who trusted her.
The U.S. Department of Justice unsealed charges Monday against Wang, 58, revealing that from late 2020 through 2022, she and a co-conspirator named Yaoning “Mike” Sun operated a website called “U.S. News Center” as a covert tool of Chinese Communist Party influence. The site, presented to the public as a community news source for Chinese-Americans, was actually a Beijing-directed propaganda operation. Wang received instructions from PRC officials via WeChat, published pre-written CCP talking points on demand, and sent confirmation links back to her Chinese handlers — who praised her with “So fast, thank you everyone.”
WHAT HAPPENED
In June 2021, a Chinese government official sent Wang a draft article through WeChat instructing her to push back against a Los Angeles Times piece on conditions in Xinjiang. The article stated there was “no genocide” and “no forced labor” in the region — standard CCP propaganda. Wang published it on her website within minutes and sent a confirmation link to the official. This was not an isolated incident. Court documents show a sustained pattern of Wang executing directives from Beijing, receiving praise from PRC handlers, and hiding the foreign relationship from the American public and federal authorities.
Wang’s co-conspirator, Sun, was arrested in December 2024, pleaded guilty to the same charge, and was sentenced to four years in federal prison. Wang is expected to plead guilty in the coming weeks and faces a statutory maximum of 10 years behind bars. She has already resigned from the Arcadia City Council — the same body she was elected to in November 2022 and later rotated into the mayor’s seat in February 2026.
FBI Director Kash Patel made clear this is part of a broader operation. “FBI and our federal partners continue to move aggressively to root out this kind of influence in American institutions all over the country,” Patel posted on X. Assistant U.S. Attorney Amanda Elbogen was blunter still: Wang “executed directives. She did what they told her to do.”
The DOJ’s assistant attorney general for national security, John A. Eisenberg, said it plainly: “It is deeply concerning that someone who previously received and executed directives from PRC government officials is now in a position of public trust at all.”

WHY THIS MATTERS / WHAT THEY’RE NOT TELLING YOU
The mainstream media covered this story with all the urgency of a local zoning dispute. One Democrat-elected mayor pleading guilty to ESPIONAGE on behalf of the world’s most dangerous communist regime — and it barely made the evening news. Why? Because this story obliterates the left’s talking point that CCP influence operations are a conservative “paranoia.” It exposes the reality that CHINESE INFILTRATION IS HAPPENING IN PLAIN SIGHT — in city councils, on school boards, in “community news” outlets that most Americans never think to question.
These are the same people who mocked Trump for warning about Chinese influence in American institutions. The same media that called voter concerns about foreign election interference “xenophobic.” Now we have a sitting mayor who told Chinese officials “this is what the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wants to send” — and the press is more interested in covering Trump’s tone on social media. THE HYPOCRISY IS STUNNING.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Arcadia is just one city. Wang is just one operative. The DOJ’s own statement says agents are working to “root out this kind of influence in American institutions ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.” That’s not a reassurance — that’s an admission of scale. While American families are focused on paying rent and buying groceries, the Chinese Communist Party has been quietly placing agents inside the institutions that govern their children’s schools, their local elections, and their community information. The question every American should be asking right now is not how Eileen Wang got caught — it’s how many people like her haven’t been caught yet.

OUR TAKE
Ten years is the maximum sentence. For selling out American democracy to a communist dictatorship — for sitting in an elected seat while answering to Beijing — ten years isn’t justice. It’s a slap on the wrist. The American people deserve to know the full scope of CCP infiltration in their local governments, and they deserve a DOJ that treats this not as an isolated case but as the national security emergency it is. America Learing Center will keep covering this story as it develops — because the mainstream press sure won’t.
