Trump triggered the initiative in February after former President Barack Obama said on a podcast that aliens were “real” — remarks Trump publicly called a classified information leak. FBI Director Kash Patel called it a level of transparency “that no prior administration has ever delivered.” DNI Tulsi Gabbard said Americans “have long sought transparency about the government’s knowledge of unidentified anomalous phenomena.” Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the files “have long fueled justified speculation” and that it is time for Americans to see for themselves.
The government website went live Friday morning and reportedly experienced early glitches due to overwhelming traffic — a sign of just how many Americans have been waiting for this moment.
